Social And Industrial Uses Of CCTV Camera

December 12th, 2008

The use of cctv cameras is not confined to crime detection only.  It is also used in surveillance for targeting the anti social behavior as is done in UK.  Local CCTV joins hands with the law enforcing agencies in many places for combating such anti-social behavior.  An example is such behavior under influence of drugs or wine. Another example is the child abuse and youth related social problems.

CCTV system is widely used in industries for monitoring and supervising the conditions that are dangerous for human.  Their use is naturally the highest in chemical and nuclear industries.  The reason is that in these industries the health hazards faced by the workers are much greater in comparison to other working atmospheres.

For instance, the thermo graphic cameras are used to measure the temperature.  At time such usage is the legal requirement under the existing law of the land.

Till date the best use made of the Cameras and cctv dvr has been for traffic control and monitoring. There is hardly a city or urban area to day where there is no traffic controlling and monitoring system.  Closed circuit television system is largely used to prevent accidents happening on the roads.  Of course, most of these CCTV systems are privately owned and they often transmit the data collected to the GPS systems of the drivers.

It does not mean that there is no official use of CCTV anywhere.  London Congestion Charge is an example of the official use of these cameras.  They are located near the charge zones and read automatically the registration plates of cars.  Violators of traffic rules are booked easily with such facilities.
