Donate Car- Getting The Value

February 12th, 2009

You may have been wondering how the value of your car would be determined by the agency when you choose to donate it to charity. Well, there are two ways this is done. You need to learn how they happen so that you never miss out on the process. First of all, the value is determined by the sale price of the car that you are seeking to donate. It happens in two ways.

If your car has a sales price of less than 500 dollars, you would claim the assessment of the fair market value of up to 500 dollars and the same would be written on the donate car receipt. This is just one way of estimating the value of the car. You need to find out the other one also.

In case the sales price is more that 500, the same would be indicated on statement that you would receive within the next 20 days after you make the donation request. You would find this very straight and there is nothing that would be seen on the statement except the value that you will have agreed on.

So, you need to ensure that you are dealing with a transparent agency as such that will make it possible for you to have the value of the car donation that you have made in the stipulated time.
