Car Insurance companies: Who Is Considered High Risk?
November 6th, 2009
Car Insurance companies either will not insure high risk drivers or will charge a very high premium to be responsible for a high risk driver. There are many different types of drivers that are considered high risk. You are considered high risk for one of two main reasons. Either you have shown through past experiences this is not to say that you cannot develop the skills.
You can also have your car adapted to meet certain handicaps in order to allow you to drive safely. If you are willing to prove yourself to car insurance companies you will find that they will be more apt to lower your premiums to allow you a more relaxed auto insurance policy.
Here is a list of a few of the different reasons that an auto insurance company might consider you too risky to insure.
· Repeat Offenders
· Young drivers
· Old drivers
· DUI offenders
· Car/Driver Combinations
· Certain Handicaps
Being in one of these categories does not automatically exclude you from being insured. However; you will find that being in one of these groups makes it a bit harder to find decent insurance at a reasonable price.
While you cannot do anything about your age or handicaps you can do things that will improve your driving skills such as take classes or install driving aides in order to help you react quicker to problems on the road. There are many classes available through private companies that you can take on the road or on your computer. Many of these classes will also help your driving record with the DMV should you get a ticket.
